King Henry: Islam is the Closest to my Heart - 2008-12-13
Barcelona – Barcelona’s French legend Thierry Henry told “Al Jazeera Sport” that he is fascinated about Islam. In an interview with experience sports analyst El Khodor Barrish, director of Al Jazeera Sport in Madrid, Henry said that some of his friends embracing Islam – like Didier Domi, Philippe Christanval, Frank Ribery, Eric Abidal and Peter Luccin – pushed him to take a look into the teachings of Islam, that he considers the closest to his heart; Henry went on to say that if he was to practice regularly religious rituals, it won’t be outside Islam.
Henry declared that he won’t convert into Islam, because a step like this needs a lot of deep thinking, because Islam itself evoked the necessity of conviction.
Henry said that he is sorry for the way some people are mixing up Islam and terrorism, and asking about the goal behind that, because the Muslim – according King Henry – has always a good heart.
This is the first time that Thierry Henry talks about the religious aspect of his life, as he has apologized many times for not discussing those, preferring to keep them for himself.
